I have created this blog in order to help people who currently own a unsightly looking "saltillo" floor that is in desperate need of restoration.
I started this in rebellion to the outrageous prices out there by some companies (some that I used to work for) and their unfair treatment of their employees. The end result, is my creating my own company that practices fairness and promotes to create a new smart customer of these services provided by my now competition. How did this all start? Read on, and I will take the time to explain and explain :) You will make your own decision and receive the help you need to either restore your own floor, or contact me and receive a very, very cheap price compared to some companies who are in this field of work.
First and foremost, I am not here to cheat and lie to anyone. If the job can be done by you, I will instruct you on how you can save a few thousand dollars (if you call them) or at least a few hundred (if you call me) in doing this work yourself.
Ahem, back to the beginning....
I started this kind of work at the age of 21. I started out in a small company who did industrial work in this field. They restored tile in big big places where there was tons and tons of saltillo tile. I learned quite allot from working in this field and I just had this thing for making old things look like new. (I am by far well qualified to do other work in the fields of computer repair, programing and even general contracting and tile setting....for some reason I just love restoring tile...among other things.) I worked for this company for 7 years and took everything I learned to another company that I worked for until recently.
I must say at first I thought I was being treated pretty fairly. I moved up fast using everything I had learned previously. I was pretty young, and when some one flashed a bit of income my way I was happy. That didn't last.
I hung on to working for that company mainly because I could not get another job in this field anytime soon. I took pay cuts, no over time pay and no health benefits for a long time. I was always feeling wrong when a customer was lied to and over charged. I always looked down and tried to get away from the conversations my boss was having with customers about their floor. I was always dragged in....I was forced to lie to keep my job. I was not happy......
Till one day
I came home and my 14 year old daughter asked me "If you're so good at this Dad, why don't you do it on you own? I mean, I'm sure you can Dad."
I thought about it and I decided to venture out and find a way to do it.....on my own.
This brings me to today. I have been doing this for almost a year on my own and it has been going pretty good. I wanted to reach out more, create a following and maybe get more customers. Once again, my daughter said, "Dad, why don't you create a blog??" I felt really dumb. Here is my only child at her age, giving me advice :)
Sooooo, here we are.....you (the readers) and I
so lets begin shall we.
